Each anniversary arrives with its own set of memories and emotions, reminding me of all we’ve been through, and all the ways life has changed since then. I don’t share this for sympathy, but as a gentle nudge to myself (and maybe to you) to truly make the most of each day. Jim had an incredible knack for seeing the beauty in the everyday: a shared smile over breakfast, an unexpected moment of kindness, or the comfort of quiet evenings together. But more than anything, Jim always made time for others. Whether it was stopping to help someone whose car had broken down on the side of the road, listening with patience and care over a cup of tea, or simply being present for those who needed him, his kindness knew no bounds. His love for life didn’t disappear with him, it lives on in these daily moments, encouraging me to pause, notice, and appreciate the good that’s still all around. Our two boys have grown so much over these past years. Josh is now 15 and Tom 10, and every day they remind me of their dad’s spirit. Whether it’s Josh’s quiet strength or Tom’s infectious laughter, I see glimpses of him in both of them, his compassion, his generosity, and his zest for life. Watching them grow into themselves is both a comfort and a joy, and I know he would be so proud of the young men they are becoming. If you’re reading this, I hope you’ll take a moment for yourself today. Step outside, reach out to someone special, or simply breathe deeply and savour the present. Life is fleeting, and these small acts of self-care and connection matter more than we sometimes realise. So, here’s to Jim, his memory lights the path ahead, prompting me and others to live with more awareness, gratitude, and an open heart for new memories. And here’s to all of us: may we treasure our friends, family, and colleagues, and embrace each day as a gift. Thank you, for teaching me (and perhaps reminding others too) that the present moment is truly precious.
